Basic Cost To Incorporate

Incorporating a business will protect its owners from being held liable if a problem occurs within the company.  The cost to incorporate a business will depend on how much the state asks for registration as well as how much lawyers charge for helping you throughout the process.

Some of the basic costs to incorporate a business include:

  • Fees for filing Articles or Certificate of Incorporation with the Secretary of State
  • Fees For Governmental Filing

These fees are what business owners have to pay once they choose to incorporate their business by themselves and not hire Incorporation Services or an attorney to do it for them.  The fact is, incorporation may be done with or without the help of an attorney by following the state-issued guidelines.  However, it would speed up the process if business owners would hire incorporation services to complete the task for them.

The Cost to incorporate will vary from state to state.  The cost may be a set amount or based on the number of shared authorized.  The filing fees will range from $75 to $125.  However, some states have fees as low as $45 and as high as $300, which is the case when you chose to incorporate a business in Texas.  The cost to incorporate will also depend on whether or not the business is non-profit or for profit.

For example, in the state of California, the fee is $100 for conventional general stock corporation and $30 for a non-profit corporation.  The fees will vary on the type of business being incorporated.  The state may collect anywhere from $50 to $200 in government filing fees.  If you filed with the help of an online incorporation agency, you will pay additional charges.

Some states also require new corporations to pay franchise tax in advance.  This fee will go anywhere from $800 to $1,000.  If you chose to hire an attorney to help process your business’ incorporation, the fees will depend on the package.  This will include the service offering and the case type.  Certain fees will also apply if a case is expedited.  An expedited processing will cost an additional $50 to $100. The basic service fee will cost about $300.  This covers only the business name search or reservation and preparation as well as for filling of the articles of formation.  Note that this fee is exclusive of charges for articles of incorporation and other governmental filing.

Some incorporation sites offer a service fee of $450 but this is exclusive of filing fees.  However, some online services offer less to the cost to incorporate.  If you want a hassle-free way of processing your business’ incorporation, we can help.
